Hello,My name is Daniela.
I’m a Romanian mother of two boys 5 and 3,5 ,living in Athens. There is a possibility that my question will not be as useful to the americans but it is a very important one for us.If it is not the proper place for the question maybe somebody help me find a good place for it .
SONIA ,what advices will you be giving to a non native english speaker that decided to do homeschool in a Charlotte Mason way? Our children are already speaking very well Romanian with the mother and romanian friends, Russian with the father and in the church , Greek outside the house.-not so well. They are speaking no english. I am speaking english the way you understand. The father is not speaking at all.
We are trying this year to start with Laying down the Rails. What kind of advices will you been giving us? What we can use to learn english?
What are the most important things to do this year in order to learn english? I love the way you are speaking english.Do you have any audio books read out laud? How we are going to read out load if he is not understanding? Are we going to be able to read good books in Romanian? Where we can find good audio books, for small children? We need them for pronunciation? I do not want my children to speak the english I speak?
Is there any book for learning english in Charlotte Mason way?
Any group with foreigners that are using CharlotteMason method?
Is there any book that you think it will really help me? A must?
Anybody now any audio bible for children?
Many questions. And so many more.
I just wanted to add that we believe in Our saviour Jesus Christ and I’m so happy that I do find out this method. Your videos are a big blessing for me. Please continue.
A great way to teach your children English would be to use the Gouin Series approach that Charlotte Mason used. This post describes how to do the method. I don’t think Cherrydale Press has Romanian books available yet, but they may be working on Russian. You might e-mail Alyson there and ask. The way their books are formatted, you can learn from English to Russian or go the other way from Russian to English. So if she has Romanian or Russian available, that could be very helpful.
I hope these links give you some ideas and some resources to help. I wish I knew of classic books that have been translated for you; maybe someone else on this forum can chime in with that information.
Thank you Sonya for your quick reply. Is there any list with the classic books? Maybe we can find them in Russian or Romanian or even Greek.
If anybody have any other ideas they are really welcome.
Thank you!
