Here’s what I mean.  I would just give 1 credit for the year for a class called Health.  The local school separates it out into 3 more specific classes which is 1 credit per term like: Food & Nutrition, Family Foods and Creative Foods.

Can someone tell me which way is more friendly for colleges?  I know my description would cover the same things as theirs and the same amount of time, so does it really matter what way I label it on the transcripts?  I would love to hear from others who have been here and done that.

Misty, I wanted to come up with a fun way to describe exactly what we did in a class.  So I wanted more interesting, very descriptive names.  I heard back from colleges we applied to in no uncertain terms to please name my courses nice, simple, standard names like the high schools do, and then explain any differences in my course descriptions.  <shrug> So that’s what we do.  I’d call the class Health, or perhaps Food Science, since what you mentioned really only applies to food, and not what is in a typical health class.  And then make up a description that says exactly what you did and learned.
