I was trying to find someone who may have used the Climbing to Good English curriculum.  I know it is probably not CM style because it is a workbook curriculum.   Though, it is suggested to do 1 page a day, which leaves me to think “short and sweet”.  Also it is put out by the same people who created Pathway Readers that many of you use.  I was just wandering if any of you used it and what your thoughts were on the program.  Was it “enough” or “not enough”, maybe “too much”.  Just looking for feedback and also did you feel comfortable using it as your only English program?

I have used the “Climbing to Good English” this year and it seems to be working fine.  I have been using the pathway reader set as well as the workbooks.  I have read great reviews from those that use CTGE and bad from those that have only reviewed the curriculum.  No, it is not CM style but some times you just have to find something that works for you.  For my family mixing up Cm style and adding in a few workbooks seems to work great and Ds seems to like LA better.  CTGE was created to tie up loose ends of the LA curriculum.  Yes, it is enough if you add in the correlating pathway reader workbooks.  If you add in another English program, it may be overkill.

If you are wanting more of a CM style LA but would like more handholding(which I like), maybe consider Sonlight’s LA program.  I personally have been torn between the two.  I like the SL LA because it doesn’t use basal readers after the initial phonics lessons.  But on the other hand, DSL loves reading the pathway readers and reading about Andrew and Rachel.
