We are planning on reading through the Narnia books this year. Did any of you add any extras into these readings? I picked up the Roar: A Family Guide book and it looks interesting. I was also thinking of making Turkish Delight to go with the LWW. Since we’ll be spending most of the year on it, I thought it would be nice to add in a few extras.
erin.kateParticipantWe’re reading through the Chronicles this year and I picked up this very good book. I read it ahead of time and share what I learn.
Making Turkish Delight is a must. 🙂
Laura.boraParticipantwoah – wait a minute….Turkish Delight is a real thing??
missceegeeParticipantYes it’s real, but my dd12 who went to Turkey last year loathes it!
HollySParticipantIt’s typically flavored with rose, I believe. I’ve found some “fruit delights” locally that are similar, but with fruit and nut flavors. I think they are very good! I don’t think I’d care for rose flavored anything. 😉 If we make it at home, I’ll be using a fruit flavor like strawberry or peach. lol
Here’s a link to the ones I’ve had: http://www.libertyorchards.com/category/Fruit_Delights
LinabeanParticipantWell, you learn something new every day! I have always thought that Turkish Delight was a chocolate dessert!
Alicia HartParticipantWe read through the Narnia Chronicles early on with my two oldest.
At our home we watch The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe every Christmas and have store bought Turkish Delight – I don’t mind the rose flavor but my kids don’t like it.
I have always wanted to try making it myself.
