Has anyone read this?  Did you read this with younger kids (7 year old) and how long did it take.  I’m doing some planning and this looks like a pretty long book. Thanks

I’m in the middle of listening to it on Librivox.  It is fairly long.  Each chapter takes about 30 minutes on audio, and there are 20 chapters.  I’m enjoying it, but I think my kids (9, 7, and 5) would find it a bit tedious.  There are long descriptions of things like how they hunted for water fowl or traveling down the Nile.  There are also some descriptive battle scenes that I’m not sure my very sensitive 9yo DD will appreciate.  Other chapters are more action packed, but I’m planning to wait for a few years before I introduce it to my kids, when they may be more interested in all the details

Thanks for that. Sounds like this one will be for the next round of history.

If you decide to do it, I highly recommend the recording by Jim Weiss.  His Hentys are “thoughtfully abridged” which I appreciate in his case.  Henty can go on…and on…  My boys enjoyed this recording a lot.
