    We are considering purchasing some chickens and a coop. I’d love to have my children (ages 6, 8, 8 and 10) read a few living books in preparation. Anyone have suggestions of living books on chickens?

    There is a magic school bus episode about chickens and eggs, it goes over reproduction briefly. Like you need a make and female but that’s about as detailed as it gets.

    One Hen by Katie Milway (similar to Beatrice’s Goat which is scheduled in SCM’s Visits to Africa) is a picture book about the value of one hen to an African boy.

    Not a living book at all, but a funny picture book we love: Chickens to the Rescue! By Himmelman. We found it at the library.

    We have had chickens for three years, and love it.
