Hi, I would like to find some good caracter books for my boys, soon to be 11 and 9.

Anything you would recommand? Something I could find at the library would be awesome.

Someone mentionned the Miller’s books on another tread and I can’t find them anywhere. Is Miller the author’s name?

    thanks! 🙂

They are listed in the personal developmental area of the curriculum guide.  Apparently they sell them at Rainbow Resource and for a reference point, here is the link to one of them:

We’ve been reading “Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends.” It’s a great book on developing character and how to treat people. My kids are 12 and 9.  It’s on the SCM list.  Hope you find what you’re looking for:) Blessings, Gina

Gina, if you come back to this tread can you tell me (or anyone else who read this book) would making brothers and sisters best friends be good in a family of all boys?

I’m not Gina, but we read Brothers and Sisters book, and really liked it! I think it would be very appropriate for just boys. It talks about biblical ways to solve conflict, (among other things) which is appropriate for us all! :). HTH!

    petitemom,

I have found some great books at Grace and Truth Books. We have especially liked the reprints of the old classics by the American Tract Society. (The Little Medicine Carrier etc.) (Peep Behind The Scenes) There are also great ones by Lamplighter Publishing which republishes old and timeless character classics. These are the kind of stories that stick with the parents AND the kids!

Oops….just saw this searching for something else! Yes, I agree that it would be appropriate for just boys.  My friend w/four girls just told me she should get it and call it ‘Making Sisters and Sisters Best Friends.”   🙂 Gina

I highly recommend anything from Lamplighter Publishing for character building. Our current favorite is Sir Malcolm and the Missing Prince.
