I think I made a find!   I’ve been looking for 4 years for a decent Canadian History “Spine” book – and from the chapter I just read, I think I may have found one…

It is called the “Story of Canada” (as are probably 40% of Canadian History books) by Marsh…  and it is free on Archive.org.  It goes to about 1900…

I need to read more on it – but this has been something that has been so hard to find!

Don’t know if you noticed, but there is an audio on librivox called “Chronicles of Canada” Vol. 1-14.

I take it you don’t like the Knowledge Quest book, “O, Canada, Her Story”?

The thing with the Knowledge Quest book was… a) – I can’t get it free or used…. and b) If I’m not mistaken, it has various stories from various times, but isn’t telling the over-all story?  The Knowledge Quest website doesn’t have the book details at the moment, so maybe I’m thinking of a different book?  It had a sample chapter about the school trains?

I hadn’t checked out the “Chronicles of Canada” (at least recently) – but I do note that the first chapter of the first book is going on and on about the geological changes of millenia ago….  I also got the general vibe that it might be better for a bit older kids?

I checked out the link from Suzukimom and read the first chapter.  Now I have another book I want to read…lol   I thought it looked pretty interesting!
