I posted another version of this question a while back and got no responses, so I thought I would broaden the search and try again.  We will soon be driving from Texas to Alaska, taking the ferry from Bellingham, WA to Haines, and I would like some great reading material to go along with our travels.  I previously requested suggestions for Nature Study, but we would love any great history, non-fiction, even fictional books that would help with our studies of these areas, their histories, wildlife and landmarks.  Thanks so much!

I’m from WA state. This is a link to the books you can buy from my hometown’s historical society. http://www.pacificcohistory.org/shop.htm

Are you going to see Mt. St. Helen’s? Here are some books about that: http://www.answersingenesis.org/search/?q=Mt.%20St.%20Helen%27s&site=AIGstore

You should be able to find some good living books about the missionaries that were martyred in WA, Marcus and Narcissa Whitman.

For pure entertainment and a glimpse into the redneck culture that exists in some parts of the NW, Patrick MacManus’ books are priceless. 🙂

    Hope that helps.
