Can you give me your experience with the following books, please?

The Story of the Ancient World by Christine Miller
Ancient Greece: Streams of History by Ellwood W. Kemp
Ancient Rome: Streams of History by Ellwood W. Kemp

I read parts of The Story of the Ancient World by Christine Miller when we studied Ancient History. However, it was over the kid’s heads (1st/2nd grade). I find the Guerber/Miller reprints fascinating and have used them all as reference books at one time or another. However, I would discourage use in early elementary, particularly reading from cover to cover. With that said, I think they are great spine books for middle school and up. I’m not familiar with the other two books you mentioned.

On the side, I prefer the Guerber/Miller books over the Famous Men of… books for a couple of reasons. The Famous Men series are short individual biographies, which makes the book seem choppy to me. Guerber’s books flow in a narrative story. Also, I appreciate the index in the back of the Guerber books because if I’m using them for research/reference, I can easily find what or whom I want to study. Also, the Guerber books seem to cover more people and events.

    Blessings,
    Melissa
