My children are younger, so we have had a family timeline notebook (just one binder for the whole family). The kids have had fun drawing things to add to the book as we go. Next year my oldest will be in 3rd grade, and I think she would enjoy having her own timeline book. My question is this: Does she start with a blank book and just add things as we go? Or does she go back and add the things that we already have in our family book? The first option seems easiest but incomplete. The second option seems complete, but time-consuming and I don’t want to overwhelm her. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I think you can leave it as is, unless there is some special something that she drew or wrote that she would like to ‘take with her’. She will be studying these things again and so can add from there.

Thank you CindyS! That makes a lot of sense. I want this to be beneficial for her, not exhausting!
