I have a Vitamix, but think a Blendtec or Vitamix is worth every penny paid. Each is easy to clean, long lasting, have warranties, grind grains, make the smoothest smoothies using cores and peels of fruits like apples and pears. We make the best hummus, dips, soups, dressings, sauces, ice cream from frozen fruit, nut butters, almond milk, purées for carrot or zucchini bread, almond meal, green smoothies, raw applesauce using core and peel, purées for fruit leathers, roux, slaw, cold coffee drinks better than coffee shops (I add raw cashews for creaminess in these drinks), healthy pudding with avocados for creaminess, date/nut based pie crusts, and much more.
I have also made puréed food for a sick elderly friend before. If I had this when my kids were babies, I would have made my own baby food.
If you have the funds and see that you will use it often, I don’t think you would regret the purchase. When I purchased our blender, Vitamix had a one month trial period, returning it for a full refund if you didn’t decide to keep it within that month. Perhaps you could see if Blendtec has the same trial period.
