I’m trying to figure out if the monthly audible cost is worth it. How does having an audible account differ from just using Overdrive provided by the library? I know with audible you own the book and with Overdrive you obviously don’t, but what other benefits are there to becoming an audible subscriber?

Thanks so much in advance to all who take the time to respond! 🙂

I took Audible up on their free offer, and after the free month, I stopped my subscription.  But I still buy the Audible books via Amazon when they sell for $.99 or $3.95.  I can still access my owned Audible books via the computer or via the app on my tablet.  We use it quite a bit.

We also use LibriVox (free downloadable recordings of books), Learning Ally (a subscription for dyslexics), and the library’s Overdrive.

One of the benefits we have found is setting up sub accounts for the children. Child A can be in one chapter and child B in another while I can listen in another chapter or book too! I know with CM we try to read together, but our schedule with our livestock, and just life, it has been very helpful for us all to be able to be on separate pages yet catch up with each other 🙂 Hope that makes sense.

I’m not sure if it is in fact called “sub accounts” but it is something you set up through your Amazon parental controls. Set up through a desktop was way easier than navigating via tablet or phone.
