    Hi there, 🙂

Recently I have been considering looking into resources for audio books as my daughter loves them. But then I just heard about this feature on kindles (and I am guessing ipads and/or other readers and tablets) called text to speech where it can read print books you have downloaded on the unit.  I don’t have a kindle or ipad or anything like that, but that sounds like a pretty nifty and perhaps handy feature.  Of those of you who have this technology, is it really useful? Can the text to speech read any book you give it?  Does it sound clear or no?  Is it a boring voice?  Is it better to go with audio books where real actors read with enthusiasm and voice changes or is the text to speech good too?  If it is handy, is there any certain features that are good to have that one unit may use where another unit wouldn’t (like a kindle better at it than an ipad)? Thank you for any help!

I would also be interested in more information on that. My 12yo special needs son can read, but it would be helpful for him to have that technology available. Then I wouldn’t have to read everything to him that is above his current reading capabilities, like literature and history books that are too tough for him but he can certainly follow the material and narrate fairly well.

It can be handy, but it is pretty monotone
