Any recommendations for audio-books for 6/7 year-olds? Also regarding the speakers!
    Thank you

Little House on the Prairie series and Cricket in Times Square.  Both have great readers and include some violin.

Winnie the Pooh – we like Peter Dennis, but I’ve seen Christie say that the Judi Dench (?) version is very good, too.

From KayRay reads to you – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of my 5yo’s favorites.

Burgess books, Five Little Peppers, Little Lord Fauntleroy, Swiss Family Robinson, Heidi, Wizard of Oz (dramatic version).  Cheaper by the Dozen and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from Audible is great too if you don’t mind paying.

My almost 6yo and almost 7yo love All of a Kind Family with Suzanne Toren reading.  She voiced Mama very well, and recently when I was correcting some behavior my daughter told me I sound like Mama from the book. LOL I guess I enjoyed that one too. 😉

Another favorite has been The Blue Fairy Book narrated by Angele Masters. We keep going back to that one so I know they love it.

I will second Winnie the Pooh with Judi Dench and Stephen Fry, etc, my kids keep asking for that one again too.

The Complete Just So Stories read by Johnny Morris, and Beatrix Potter: The Complete Tales with Gary Bond, Michael Hodern, etc were both enjoyable.

The kids really liked Uncle Remus narrated by Joel Chandler Harris but for some reason I had a hard time getting into that one.

We’ve done best using booksshouldbefree.com (I think the website might be called loyal books now, but you will still access it via the website I just stated). From the main page click on Children – and from there you will see MANY superb titles (though they are not sorted by age and really run from age 5-teenage years). For my 6-7 year olds we did best with the Beatrix Potter Treasury (my daughter would hold our hard copy book and follow along with the person reading), 50 Famous Stories, Just So Stories, Jungle Book and we are now on Five Little Peppers. Again, with all of these, I have my children follow up with our own hard copy book (or I sign it out of the library). I must tell you – using audio books this way is just about the BEST thing I have ever done in our homeschool and I now have four kids in love with reading.
