    Hey everyone,

We’ve been listening to Little Britches for awhile now.  I need to change it up for a CD or two.  I was thinking Dracula or something like that.  What about Frankenstine, Dr. Jekle and Mr Hyde?  Any of these any good for in the car?  Something that will really grab them again?

Kids I am looking to get this round are 12 and up boys!  and wanting classics this time! Thanks

I think Jekyll and Hyde is a good choice. I found Dracula slow. I am also planning to have my 13yo boy read The Time Machine.

Any HG Wells is good, as is Jekyll and Hyde. Frankenstein is excellent, but I think requires some attention to really get the most of it. We like those since they foster excellent philosophical topics for discussion.

Jules Verne is also good, as is Sherlock HOlmes.

There’s also many GA Henty and Ballentyne available for free.

I personally will avoid Dracula based on my own reading and understanding of the original legend’s origins and the Stoker’s version as a mixture of the soul-less undead, strong elements of seduction, and drinking the blood of humans; taking another’s life to sustain ones own condemned “undead” position and creating further soul-less condemned creatures.
