My four year old is giving up his nap and enjoys using that time to rest and listen to audio books. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions of books he might enjoy. So far I’ve just been having him listen to books we’ve previously read, but I’m open to new ones as well. He’s listened to and enjoyed the James Herriot treasury, Farmer Boy, The Bears on Hemlock Mountain, The Lighthouse Family, and Stuart Little. Also, do you think I should avoid using books on the curriculum guide or should I just use the ideas and adapt as necessary later on? Thanks for any advice!

My boys have enjoyed anything by Jim Weiss. He has audios for the younger crowd. Anything by Thornton Burgess.

    Your Story Hour bible CDs

Anything by Odds Bodkin (Harper and the King is a fave here)

How about “Box Car Children” series by Getrude Chandler Warner or “Sugar Creek Gang” series by Paul Hutchens. Both of these series have been favorites for my kids for years, starting very young but also appealing to them as they get older too which makes them great b/c they keep everyone entertained on long car rides!

Sugar Creek is our all time favorite! We own all of them.

Thanks for your ideas! I just remembered I got a sample of Sugar Creek Gang at the convention this year. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
