I’m not sure exactly what you are looking for, but here is an older post related to teaching art and drawing that you might find helpful:

Thanks, wings2fly. I know this isn’t my post but I was looking into art options for my 6 yo. The link to the post you gave was very helpful and solidified some things that had already been stirring in my mind. I might check into Discovering Great Artists just for doing something fun and to go along with picture study. Surprisingly, my library has it so it seems God is helping me work things out with my strict budget! 🙂

Great! We have not yet gotten into Artistic Pursuits or any other art program. Now my 6 yo has developed an interest in drawing. My ds9 draws all.the.time. in his free time and studies paintings in books (observation) and draws them. He does quite well, but I wonder if he would do even better with learning new techniques from a drawing class. After reading back through that old post, I’ve been checking into See the Light Art Class dvds, but they are $100. They look good though. She encourages observation skills and picture study as well, from what I can tell by the previews. But I think Artistic Pursuits has its pros too.

I have Discovering Great Artists and it is nice for art projects, but not drawing instruction. It doesn’t hurt to check it out from your library. 🙂

Thanks for all the great responses, everyone. I’m really excited about this program now.

I had my older dd in art classes a few months back but it just got to be too costly, so I’m glad there’s something solid out there that helps me help her.
