We have several of the How Great Thou Art products and my boys really like them, and they are able to apply what they are learning with their other drawings. We use the Beginning Drawing DVDs and I Can Do All Things.

Okay – so I thought the same thing about Creating a Masterpiece. But they don’t just work on one drawing. She works them through lessons that are about 10 minutes and gives them different things to practice drawing to illustrate the concept she is teaching. I will look at the video for you tomorrow, but I am pretty sure that there are at least 20, 10-15 minute lessons. The screen tells you when to stop and let the child practice what they just learned.

My kids are asking for it every day, but we are only doing it once or twice a week. When we finish it we will move on to the Sculpture lessons. Hope that helps!

We used his book, Draw Squad.  It’s a bit cheaper than the online videos!  My older two DC really enjoyed it (ages 10 and 8).  We did watch some of the free videos and they enjoyed them as well.

We have the on-line subscription to Draw Squad.  We purchased through the Homeschool Buyer’s Coop about 18 months ago and received the 3 year subscription for about $40.  My children do it occasionally and have fun with it.  Since I have five children doing it, I think it’s a huge bargain and I think it has helped to improve their 3-D drawing ability.   We also have many of the Draw Write Now books and they enjoy those as well.

We use it and LOVE it.  I assign it twice weekly to all the kids and they each want to do 2 lessons.  I have them work in two groups according to age/ability.  First, the little guys work on Mini Marshmallow art lessons and the the older kids do Art Academy.  I have been amazed at the drawings they have turned out.  We are not a particularly artsy family, but I recognize that basic drawing skills are learned not just innate.

We like the Drawing Textbook by Bruce McIntyre. I dislike “drawing” books that are mostly text, and this one emphasizes learning by imitating, not by reading long how-to pages. Six sketches per lesson, some tips for each sketch if needed, very open & go. He has other books, but we haven’t finished this one yet.

I am also looking for a good drawing book.  My kids range in age and I want either 2 books to split them up or 1 book they can all work at.  Any suggestions specificly with the age thing in mind?
