Applied Grammar?

Has anyone ever used Applied Grammar?  It is a color coded grammar system.  Very hands-on.  I bought some of the materials at a homeschool conference a couple of years back (haven’t used it)  and I’m looking into my options for next year.  

I’m having trouble trusting the process of relying on narrations alone (oral then written) to teach grammar solidly.  The Analytical Grammar is a bit pricey for me; I have used Abeka grammar books (doing just one exercise a day); Queen Language Arts books (very pretty, but a little light on the grammar in the older years…lots of writing and copywork).  

My children will be 12th grade (not really looking for her); 10th; 7th, 6th and a K.  Mainly looking for the 10th, 7th and 6th.  

I’m looking for a CM friendly but solid grammar.  Any choices I may be overlooking?
