I was wondering if anyone used Lightning Lit for 1st grade? I can’t seem to find any reviews of this level online, although I’ve seen many positive reviews for the middle and high school levels. I am wondering how “intense” the program is, because I will have a first grader who is still actively learning to read and nowhere near ready to read these books on his own. Could he still benefit from and enjoy this curriculum? I love the book list!

    Thanks,

From the online sample,  it looks like there is a lot of writing.  That would pretty much take the joy out of the books for a first grader!  I’d say just use the booklist and do narrations appropriate for your child’s age level.  Smile

Also, this appears to be brand-new.  Probably why you aren’t seeing many reviews.  I would wait and see what the reading instruction and writing were like.  I wouldn’t push a first grader to do much “composition”myself!

I agree with both of you…it seemed a bit “intense”. Thanks for helping me see this more clearly!
