ParticipantHow long does each chapter take to read? I will starting with the first one, Apples, and will be reading it aloud to my 6yo. Just wondering about how much time I should budget for each chapter, I guess I mean for the reading and working out the problems.

ParticipantThey usually take my son about 15 minutes at the most to read and do the problems.

ParticipantThank you Tara. I was hoping they would be short so that we could do an entire chapter in one sitting and not split it up. Thanks again.

ParticipantWe are working through it with my 6 and 8 yo. In apples we did 3 chapters a day and it took maybe 20 minutes. About the third book we went down to 2 chapters a day and now on book 6, we just started doing only one chapter a day, still spending 15-20 minutes each time.

ParticipantWe are in Butterflies with my DD6. We do two chapters in about 10 minutes, with me reading aloud. You definitely shouldn’t have to split up a chapter, at least for the first few books.

ParticipantI’m doing it with my ds8 and it takes ~ 10 minutes for us, including the questions. My dd11 is working through for fun (& it has been great for showing her the why) them 2-3 chapters at a time writing out answers and it takes her 15-20 minutes, tops.

ParticipantSounds like this will be perfect for us. I am adding it into our read aloud time once or twice a week an plan to do just one chapter at a time. We are going to work through it very slowly – 2 books for the entire year. I am going to be placing my book order in a couple weeks and this is one that I am very excited to get and see what it’s really like.

Participantyes, I am actually using Singapore for our main math program. I just though lof would be fun for him because he really like to do the “real-world-application” of math he is learning. We are also using miquon but more as a self directed/self paced math workshop whenever he wants to. He thinks it is fun so we keep it as an activity for him to do if he is finished with his work and waiting for me to finish with whatever else I am doing before we move on.

MemberWe use Singapore and supplement with Life of Fred. We usually read two chapters at a time as a family (DS 8 and DS10). Even our DD4 likes to listen. Since we use Singapore as our main curriculum, we tend to answer the LOF questions verbally (alternating between DS8 and DS10). Reading two chapters and answering verbally tends to take about 15 minutes.
