Has anyone ever switched from using AO history to SCM history? How much did you have to change? Everything? Did you still incorporate AO, which parts?

At one point I was doing a different history program along with AO for other subjects…  I took out the AO History, the AO Biographies, and also looked at the AO Free Reads that went along with the history… some of them were done with my other history program when we were at that point in history – so for those I’d do it when we did that part of history.   Otherwise, I kept it pretty much the same.

    hth!

I switched. My kids were around 5th and 3rd. I just jumped to the history cycle my oldest would have been doing and used for both. I still scan AO’s list every year and sometimes add in literature, devotions, etc. but using the SCM handbooks have really simifies life around here! I also add in Truthquest history commentary, movie selections, and as they age may add in an extra book or two….I just pencil TQ into my SCM handbook margin. Easy peasy:) Blessings, Gina

momto2blessings, can you tell me what you mean by penciling in TQ into your handbook?  I would like to use the TQ quide as we are doing moduel 6.  Thanks!

Angelart73, all I do is go through my TQ guide and select the larger commentaries (some are just a couple lines that don’t say much…I skip those). I just glance through the commentary and jot its page # down where I think it best correlates with a topic in my SCM guide. I also do this for TQs Thinkwrite (TW) questions and any movie selections I think we may like to watch. So, if SCM is talking about Thomas Jefferson, in the margin I may have TQ pg, TW pg and maybe a movie.

I love having SCMs plan, and with the TQ additions and SCMs timeline info in the margins everything’s in one place. TQ doesn’t have a lot of commentary on Egypt, but it only took me 30 min last year and history, geography, and Bible were all planned! HTH some, Gina
