Anyone love the online Scripture Memory Box site?

  • I want to start the scripture memory box and like the rotational aspect, but has anyone used and loved (or despised) the online option?  http://www.scripturebox.com/   I was hoping for an app that could be used offline, but IDK…. Trying to figure out what will be most used and easiest to use. Not crazy about paying an annual fee for that site, but $5/yr isn’t going to break the bank either. Thoughts?

I would love an app, too. I’ve tried that one and it’s ok. In my ideal world the Fighter Verse app would allow organization SMS box style. Currently, we use the regular index card box, but I have one per kid. I then input our verses into the Fighter Verse app for practice for the kids.

I use ANKI – it determines how often to show us a card by how well we say we did (or didn’t) remember it. Each of us has our own profile. You can use it free on your computer, android, web version, and some older options are available too. There is an ipad version but it has a (expensive) cost. The various methods can sync together.

Since we started using it about a year ago, I have gotten comments from Sunday School teachers about how well my kids know their scriptures.

I tried ANKI but found its interface cluttered and not as simple as I prefer. Just sharing my experience.

Yeah, I’ll agree it does not have a simple interface. It is written by a techie who does it for a hobby (and to use himself) in his spare time and does not charge for it except the ipad version. It is super powerful, and does what it does very well, but it has a definite learning curve.

I guess as I’ve used computers since the 1970’s, the interface isn’t my first concern.

For scripture study with anki, most of the defaults work…make the cards and suspend them until you are ready for your next new one. You suspend/unsuspend cards in the browser area.

We are using ANKI as well.  It IS a bit clunky, and does take some work to set up, but once your decks are established and running, I find it simple to use.

I’ve looked at the Scripture Memory Box as well, but since we are using ANKI for many other things (math facts, Spanish Vocabulary, etc.), I decided just to stick with that.  I like that ANKI has many shared decks that other people have set up, so other than scriptures, I’ve just downloaded the cards that I want.  If I just wanted scriptures, I might give the Scripture Memory Box a try.  $5 a year is very reasonable!
