I like to have my kids hit three subjects a day. That is what they like and what we seem to finish naturally. Right now they each have planners and man it is annoying to fill the in each day. They all like the reminder though.

I think the planner would help give us some guidance. I am solo parenting right now while my husband is in another state for at least a year. We have 5 kids 15-1. I need to save some time. my kids like to know what to do. We know the curriculum we like. But, If I plan the entire year it is overwhelming to erase and try to fix all that work.

We have been using a VA the last three years. But, are venturing back into being independent again. I need something to keep us on track. Something I can access several places. Something I don’t have to fix three times a week. If my son wants to read a book, I would love to enter it once and it tells m when to read it. I would feel reassured to be able to print out a monthly report that shows…hey we did something this month.

Any thoughts. Anyone school similar to us?

We aren’t relaxed homeschoolers by design… lol – but life always throws us a curve.  My dh has been off work for 3 weeks, and so school has been pretty hit-and-miss.

I have to totally recommend the SCM Organizer for you.  There is no re-writing out plans over and over…  you can assign what you want to do what day, and if they don’t do it – it brings the same “division” (chapter/lesson/whatever) up the next day.  You can assign a book, and just mark off the chapters as they read them.  You can say basically “start book B when you finish book A”.   Pick and choose subjects?  just schedule things each day – and mark off what gets done.  The kids want a list?  print the Daily plan for them.

    Give the trial a try….

I would also recommend the SCM Organizer.  I only have one child and it saves me so much time and headache.   I used to hand write our daily plans and would have to change them constantly, because I am using materials that are mastery based.  We don’t move on until I really feel like she understands the concepts being taught.

I really think that any type of HS family would be able to use this organizer successfully.  I love how it keeps track of what we do each day and how many days we have completed.  The items that we are using all year long automatically show on our daily plan with the next lesson we need to complete.  If you decide to add a book you read that day you can type it in, mark that you completed it and it records it.  I’m no longer spending hours hand writing plans only to change them.  NO MORE WHITEOUT!!!!

The CMO has given our class flow. It keeps us in a sequence no matter what week who get the flu or impromptu travels etc…she was not kidding, it flexes with you. Some thing isn’t what you thought it would be, edit your lesson plans super easy. Add unplanned reading in the daily note box to record it. Use the note boxes to make comments about their progress, challenges, goals, marks, milestones! Then it is all there in your reports. I signed on to get my relaxed school organized a bit, and it certainly is, but we haven’t lost our pace or comfort zone because of it.I also wanted to use it as my weekly report to the school we are hooked under ( mandatory reporting ) and this has made that process soooooo simple. it has also allowed me a whole picture look at our journey by generating the reports showing the notes. I just love it, it is so worth the set up time in the beginning. I don’t see myself going with out it. go for it!

LOVE, LOVE the fact that we can just check off what we actually do and I don’t have to adjust the schedule for the next day. This is a relaxed homeschooler’s dream!
