Just wanted to say I received my copy yesterday, and we just finished Chapter 2 a few minutes ago, and I have already learned so much! I really like being a visitor to Ur.

    Thanks!

Ooo, I ordered a copy yesterday so I’ve got a wait yet. I look forward to surprising the kids with it though!

Tristan, I read the first chapter from the online sample last week; I couldn’t wait!  😉

I’ve been enjoying it as I’ve been working on the audiobook. Wink Several times, I’ve been so intrigued by these fascinating civilizations that I’ve had to do some research of my own.

Both EPUB and Mobi (Kindle) versions are in the works. We’re waiting on an upgrade to our shopping cart software to be able to deliver them properly. It’s in beta testing now but doesn’t have a release date set yet.

So glad you posted this. I wasn’t planning to get it since it wasn’t at my library. I just now realized it’s a SCM book. 🙂

Just saw this new resource! Wondering if anyone else is currently in the midst of Module 1. We are in Term 2 & I’m wondering if it’s too late to get it… and how would I implement it? Any tips would be great!

    Hi Sherri-

I bought it in the midst of term 2, while we were reading Boy of the Pyramids. I looked at this link http://simplycharlottemason.com/product-links-tips-info/ancient-egypt-and-her-neighbors-links-and-tips/ to see about subbing the new book into Module 1, penciled in their recommendations, and then played catch up one or two days a week until I caught up to the recommended schedule. The book stands alone well, so we just read and narrated.

All that to say…it’s not too late! It’s a great resource.

I was looking at Egypt and Her Neighbors just now. It looks fantastic! But I do have a question. I think I am reading something wrong. It says it can replace the Oxford book schedule in G-D, so I looked at Stonehenge chapter and saw that it is plugged in for lesson 45 (if I am reading this correctly). But when I go to lesson 45 in the guide it says The Oldest Boat in the World. I know I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone correct me? Thanks!

“The Oldest Boat in the World” was the chapter in the Oxford book. You can disregard those titles since you will be substituting the Ancient Egypt and Her Neighbors chapters instead. Does that help clarify?

    Thank you, Sonya.

Now this has me thinking. I do have the Oxford book, I just like to know all of my options. From what you are saying AEaHN may actually be a good book to have in addition to the Oxford book as well since it covers additional topics. I love that idea! This will be something for me to consider. 🙂

I have both the Children’s Oxford and Ancient Egypt and Her Neighbors. I found Oxford inexpensively a while back. Having read through both myself I prefer the friendly way that Ancient Egypt and Her Neighbors is written. Love it! For now Oxford is sitting on my shelf and kids can browse it as they wish. But we’re actually going to USE SCM’s new book.

I noticed that the sample says the Ebook has colored pictures, while the print book is in black and white. So, just wondering which version would you (or did you) pick?
