hello! Some of my children enjoy doing some activities and projects. Has anyone found a book or books that would work well with SCM Modern times book? I’ve been searching, and haven’t found much. Thanks!
CrystalNParticipantBiblioplan has a pretty cool craft book for each time period. I have never used the whole Biblioplan curriculum, but I do have their Medieval craftbook and it is easy enough to use with other resources. It has simple crafts that look fun with simple supplies. We like crafts that can be played with or used in some way (as opposed to just saving them in the “whatever grade” school year bucket). There is also a series called Make it Work…. for different time periods, we have used a few of those but the crafts are more complicated. The library often has the series. If you like cut, color, paste activities then History Pockets has tons of that.
HollySParticipantHave you been to the links and tips page: https://simplycharlottemason.com/product-links-tips-info/modern-times-epistles-revelation-links-and-tips/
I usually start there. We aren’t big on projects, so I usually find more than enough there! I plan to focus on presidents and states/capitals for memory work. I’d love to have a special meal for each state or region. You could do a mini-victory garden, which could also tie in some science and handicrafts!
Reese23ParticipantI love all of these ideas!! Thank you! Do you have a book that you plan on using for the state meals? My kids would love that! I plan on getting the biblioplan craft book as well.
HollySParticipantThere is a book called Eat Your Way Through the USA that I looked at. It was written by a homeschool mom and has a few recipes for each state. However, I’ll probably just Google ideas. We’ll be doing good to get to one meal per region!
