This is my favorite CM quote. We often recite it by memory at our CM meetings.

This is actually the part we say.

“The question is not, – how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education – but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care? In fact, how large is the room in which he finds his feet set? and, therefore, how full is the life he has before him?”

I’ve used this quote several times on my blog. I have many goals in educating my children but this is the bottom line. I love her large room analogy. “Thou hast set me feet in a large room should be the glad cry of every intelligent soul,” comes from Psalm 31:8 and is a beautiful picture of the feast of living ideas we spread before our children.
