Is there such a thing as TOO MUCH of a quiet growing time?

For example: we were playing mud kitchen and after a while I went and sat under a tree and watched. I feel like I should be “playing” with her more

I don’t know.   My daughters are currently 11, 9, 8, and 6yo.  When they were little, I didn’t “play” much with them.  I’m not the sort to play “baby dolls” or “cooking”.  If them came to me to show me something, I’d make the appropriate remarks or actions (pretend to drink or eat or whatever).

If they wanted me to build something with them (widgets), I’d typically get them started and then find a way to leave.

My favorite thing to do with my daughters was to read aloud to them, so that I did plenty of.   Once they got to the age where they could play board games other than Candy Land (which I HATE!) or Chutes and Ladders (which I also loathe!), that’s when I really started playing with them.   So, now we can play for hours! I really love the age they’re at now – we play lots of Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, Guess Who, and various card games.

So, in my eyes, letting your daughter play alone is perfectly fine.  Does she have siblings or friends that give her the “play with someone” time? Maybe someone with one child will have better advice for you.  🙂
