a question for all my kindle friends…

I just bought the kindle paperwhite and have begun loading it with e-books. I have 41 so far in total, I think. Now that I have downloaded the kindle app on my phone and another tablet, I have to watch to make sure the books actually get to the devices they are supposed to get to. My question I have is, although it says on the main screen I have 41 books, when I go into the “kindle free time” section I only have 24 books to choose from. Am I doing something wrong? Or does anyone have any advice for me about setting up the kindle in general? Also, do you use “kindle free time” and do you find it helpful? It looks like a neat idea!

    Thank you!

You have to ‘approve’ the books that are available for Kindle Free Time.  You can do that from your Amazon account under Manage Your Kindle or you can do it from the Kindle using your parental controls and then clicking with books/apps/games you want available in Free Time mode.

I sometimes use Free Time.  Mostly I let my 13-year-old use it without, but if I notice too much time being spent on things he should not be spending it on, I lock it down again and only let him use Free Time.  He uses the internet for research a lot and so I try to give him free reign….but I check his history every night and if he’s been hitting Pokemon videos during school he gets shut out.  My younger ones don’t use it for much so I typically leave it unlocked.  However, IF I had a young one using it frequently I’d definitely use it more.  It’s a great safety feature….until they somehow figure out how to change the password and then can’t remember what it is so you have to reset your Kindle!

That’s too funny! I could see that happening. Lol

So, if I don’t download a book from amazon, let’s say it is a pdf or another book I bought elsewhere. ..then it would not be eligible in the free time area? That’s what I am noticing I think… I went to old fashioned education and downloaded some kindle books from a link there. And it looks like those are the ones I am having trouble finding. 🙁
