A Child's Geography Vol 2

HI All

I need some help.

I have been using this for the last 8 weeks now, and as much as I want to love this, I just can’t seem to get into it.  The pictures are lovely, but for some reason the reading (and we love to read) seems overwhelming.  It seems to go over my daughters head.  Her narration on this is much worse than on other things. Ironically she says she likes it, which is why I’ve kept going, but her focus is always elsewhere and she doesn’t really seem to engage.  I’ve been patiently watching and waiting to tease out what it is she “likes” about it when I don’t see it from any other angle.

I’ve even scaled back the amount we read maybe doing 3 pages per week. 

The mapping is frustrating as they ask us to record sites, but I don’t see anyplace in the text that shows me where these places are?? Am I to use an outside resource? 

Is anyone else struggling with this resource??  If there are any good ideas out there, I’m all ears!
