    A Child’s Book of Character Building, book 2 is out of print.  For those who follow SCM’s curriculum, how do you handle this?  Do you subsitute?  Pay the high price tag for the book?  etc…

    You might put out an ISO for it.  I recently purchased both 1 and 2 from another mama for 10ppd total, so it is worth a try!

    I happened to find it on amazon I think at a decent price last year and snatched it up…

    I got an older HC on Amazon with a different ISBN but looks fine. I think it was about $12.

    Sarah- that’s what I was about to say, I just bought an older edition for about $12 also. Look closely on Amazon and you’ll see it, the title doesn’t say Book 2 but you can see it in the picture.

    Have you used the first book yet? I actually didn’t care much for it, so I decided not to bother with hunting for Book 2, and we’ve just substituted other books for ‘personal development’. This year we are using “Missionary Stories with the Millers” and my dd6 is really enjoying it.

    We are finishing up book1 now. Like Jen, we are going to do “Missionary Stories with the Millers” as suggested for year 3.

    We have really enjoyed and learned from book 1 so far. I look forward to book 2. We spend about 5 minutes reading the short 1 page story and discuss it. I give them about 5 minutes to color or draw. This is 2X per week. So we spend about 2 – 3 weeks on one character and memory verse(s). Then I try to catch them in real life displaying that character and point it out to them and discuss.
