The recommendation is for Exploring Creation with General Science- I followed the link amd it took me to berean builders website but said it’s out of print and no longer available and referred to the new Science in the Atomic Age course. Are these two compatible? I know Jay Wile was building his own new series after being separate from apologia so maybe this is a comparable course rebranded? Do you know if you guys will currently continue to recommend exploring creation with General Science and I should track down a used copy or will you shift your recommendation? Does anyone have familiarity with both course to speak to a recommendation!? Thanks so much! I was just gearing up to think about laying out a rough outline of all my upper years sciences but I guess it first hinges on if this series is being replaced!

Also if anyone has that answer they may know what the scm recommendations will be continuing after that… 8th, 9th grade etc since they follow the exploring creation upper series- and I’m thinking maybe they are all going out of print and being replaced by the new series? But that is definitely a question not a statement! Look forward to hearing of scm’s recommendations will stay the same or update or change. Thanks so much!

We have not yet had time to review Dr. Wile’s new course but plan to.  Right now, we encourage families to look for a used copy of Exploring Creation with General Science  2nd edition.  There are several copies available on eBay at this time.

Thank you! One additional question: my seventh grader is the oldest of five so I will be doing this course at least five times… I am wondering the timing of a possible replacement recommendation- as in is it likely that within the next six mo this to a year the recommendation will changeover to Jay wiles new course or something else or is it much further away? Amd is the whole upper exploring creation series likely to update to his new course or something else? Trying to think longer term for building a rhythm that each of my children will go thru amd sounds like it’s all on the verge of change! I’m all for buying used curriculum too but I wonder if by my second or third child I would need to change over or if I should just wait a few months amd see. If that makes sense. Thanks so much for all y’all do and for such reliable recommendations!!!! So grateful!

It’s hard to say when we will have new recommendations. Apologia just published the newest editions of their physical science and biology courses this year. Also, Dr. Wile’s Science in the Atomic Age is brand new this year. Because I’ve been working on other projects I have not had time to review them yet. We already recommend Dr. Wile’s Discovering Design with Chemistry for high school chemistry, instead of Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Chemistry.

One thing to keep in mind when choosing high school curriculum is that in science new discoveries are always being made so updates to books are necessary from time to time. For the most part, the information in an older edition is not going to be outdated, so if your children will be middle school/high school age in the next few years, you should be able to use the editions of the Apologia courses we recommend with no problems, even when we at SCM change our recommendations for science.

Rainbow Resource still has some copies.

I don’t see the teacher guide though.  It has some of the answers and tests.
