    I will ditto the suggestion of anything with wheels! Anything with wheels is sure to be a hit with our 3yob! I’ve taken to carrying a matchbox car around in my purse for “emergencies”. =)

    I really like the website http://www.fatbraintoys.com.  You can click on toys by gender and age, so click on 2 yr old boy, and it lists the top 20 I think?  We always tell grandparents to get things from there.  Most have been big hits, and most of them don’t use batteries:)
