We want to have school in the summer but our summers aren’t hot, 70-80, and love them. It is so…rainy here from Nov. through April or May and then in June it quits. We do alot of swimming up the river and picnics etc. from then on. I also want a two or three break at Christmas. Has anyone done 4 days a week so as to have an extra day to get caught up and do household things etc.? I had thought about doing school in the summer 3 days a week instead of 4 and then Nov.-April May begin at 4 and work up to 5 days a week? I’m not sure how this would work and if anyone has done anything similar and how it could be done or 3wks./1wk. off how can we work it out so we can get more days off for summer? Possible Ideas?
We have similar here. We do school 4 days, with Fridays for catch up, chores, town etc. We take 3 weeks off at Christmas, well, off sort of, we do bake and visit and do seasonal things..then we try to quit in late May. Usually it works fine, but this year not so much. My ds is entering his senior year next year and there was just too much undone so he will be working through the summer to get done. Works well for the younger ones though, and has saved my sanity many times
We work our school exactly like HeidiS. We do school 4 days a week, Monday through Friday. Then Friday is for grocery shopping, post office, doctor appointments, etc. We love being able to take several “mini vacations” during the year. We school August-July. Doing school year round allows us to take time off when it works for us instead of 3 months in the summer. My husband gets 3 weeks off for vacation every year but can only take one of those in the summer so we can plan time away from school without feeling pressured to hurry and finish by a certain date. Works for us. 🙂
