We listened to Five Little Peppers and How They Grew and loved it right up until the end when a new reader came on board and we couldn’t understand them at all. I pulled up the story and read through the rest of the book myself.
The Burgess animal book readers are ok.
LOL, I know they are volunteers and it is free, so beggers can’t be choosers, but some are just impossible to listen too.
I’m thankful we haven’t come across a bad version yet! On a side note, we loved 5 Little Peppers and Where They Grew so much that we named our son Jasper Elliott!
We have listened to Mark Smith and enjoyed him too. I can’t remember all their names, but we are so funny. We will recognize a voice and all of us will say “oh, we like this one!” and sad to say, there are those occasional ones where we are like “oh, dear!”
We recently listened to Kidnapped, and the reader (thankfully for the whole book) was Mark F. Smith. He was very good, did voices and accents, made it an enjoyable listen. I’ll definitely hope to find more he has read.
And I’ll agree that Kara Shallenberg is one of the best.
Kara Shallenberg is my favorite! We have actually listened to some that we would not have otherwise though to look for because she read them
Right now we are listerning to the Narnia series on Ancient Faith Radio and the lady that does that one is wonderful! English accent but not to strong. It is a free download as well!
We like Kara Shallenberg, too. My favorites aren’t at Librivox though. My mother in law has recorded many picture books for us and two years ago, a friend had her sons record some for us. Those are our favorites!
