Is this really true? If there is a wish list this should be very near the top IMO. I pull a report (lovely) and then need to edit a date on the report or go back to a date that doesn’t show up because I forgot to enter our work that day … but can’t except to go to the resource and enter the data there for that specific date? Ut oh, what if there is no resource that I can go back in to, maybe I just need to record what we were doing while we were not doing our lessons lol, I can’t do that? We really need a clickable calendar at this point. Click on a date and it pulls up that day … edit to our hearts content and press save! Otherwise if you forget to log in to the CMO, you are out of luck for that date. I like my records to be so much more complete than this allows. Maybe I’m missing something? Maybe I just need to be chained to my computer more?
It looks like you’re talking about two different situations. Let me see if I can address both.
Situation 1: Editing recorded work. The Organizer doesn’t currently have a way to edit recorded work. We know this is a necessary feature and we are working on ideas for building it.
Situation 2: Recording work you missed. If you forget to record something, even if it’s not scheduled, it’s easy to backdate an assignment. First, make sure the resource is scheduled on your Daily Plan. If you only need to mark off one assignment, schedule just that one division. Next, find the resource on the Daily Plan and click the triangle next to the checkbox. That opens up a “drawer” with more checkboxes, plus a calendar that you can use to pick any previous date and mark it off.
Situation 1 – Cool beans! I’ll be thrilled to see this aspect added.
Situation 2 – Yes and no. I understand how to use this tool to edit assignments we may have forgotten. I’m more interested in being able to record what we did on days where we did NOT do lessons that are scheduled. Maybe we spent the day at the zoo or went on a great science field trip or toured an art gallery … I’d like to just record that in our Notes for that day.
You are suggesting maybe that I add some type of fake resource that I could then treat in the same way that I’d treat our scheduled resources? In this fake resource I could capture what we actually did that day in the notes section next to the assignment? I guess that could work. I think I’ll name it Playing Hooky.
I’m being a little silly in my previous post. But really this is a very important aspect to the CMO for me. I treat these “playing hooky” things as lessons and consider them educational unless they have no redeeming qualities (in which case, what are we doing?!) so I like to see them at the end of the term. I include them on evaluations too so I need to be able to jot down what was done, things that came up, information we learned, etc.
Yes, Jordan, I have seen that video. I’m afraid I’ve watched it numerous times. I just hate needing to enter a resource for every type of “playing hooky” we might encounter. I think I’ll just schedule the “playing hooky” resource and see what happens. That’s really my only option right now.
I’m so OCD it is killing me that this term I’ve been on a total learning curve with the CMO and haven’t recorded my term in the most complete or easy way I could have. I’d suggest to those considering the CMO – do not wait until the last minute. Go ahead and enter everything and start to play around well before you start your new term.
I want to clarify that what I find sort of cumbersome is the entering of the resource like “playing hooky” (there are a number of steps for entering a resource) versus just clicking that date on a calendar and adding my activities to the Notes section for that day. One report (lovely little things) would show me all my notes and thus all my activities for any given time period.
You could make a resource called “special notes and activities” with a lot of divisions and schedule it under personal development. Then you could have that resource ready for those special moments.
Oh, sorry, I see that you already have the idea to make a resource for notes. When someone recently stated that they make a notes resource, I was happy to find a simple solution for me.
I’m adding “Lovely Little Things” as a resource with 180 divisions under personal development! Exactly the answer I needed to the question I had yet to formulate.
I love it! I come up with PLAYING HOOKY and you come up with something so much more sincere and lovely … ha ha! That made my morning. BTW, it does seem to solve the problem for now.
