I love SCM. We’ve gone through all 6 history guides and for the upcoming school year we want to study WW2 with a heavy focus on the Holocaust. I’ll have a 9th grader, 7th grader, & 2nd grader. Are there any guides or lessons plans out there for WW2 and/or Holocaust that are set up in a similar manner to SCM guides? Basically I’m looking for a booklist broken down into age ranges and a lesson plan that walks me through what to read and when through the school year. I’ll also be adding in whatever movies and documentaries I can find as well.
Check the Truthquest History guides, specifically Age of Revolution 3 – https://tinyurl.com/y8dj5nry
You can view the table of contents at the above link. It’s been very helpful for me in planning books for my boys. There is overlap with American History 3 she also has for younger students, so there is no need to purchase this book too. The author provides commentary as well from a Christian view. It’s not lesson plans per-say, but more a guide to help you find what you want to study with your children. The TOC will better explain how it’s broken down.
Also, I have a guide called Learning with the Movies which has been helpful finding movies we might want to view for different time periods too. http://www.learningwiththemovies.com/
I cannot find a written lesson plan/reading schedule that is similar to the SCM guides for WW2. How on earth would I go about scheduling this out for a whole year? My kids need a detailed plan like the SCM guides as far as what to read , when and how much. Can anyone help me here?? I keep coming up with short unit studies that have a ton of included activities and worksheets that would be great for some families, but won’t work for mine.
EDIT to add : I will be putting a timeline up on the wall for them to add to as we come across things in our readings and will have a map up for us to locate where all the things we will read are happening.
