WTM/SCM…History & Science suggestions

Is there really much difference in the way that TWTM and CM suggested we teach History and Science? From what I have gathered in my recent studies, both suggest that you use a “spine” and lots of good books to explore a certain area of each subject. Also add in some “hands on” things and voila!

Is it really that simple? If so, why do I need a scheduled program? I have been searching for the perfect curriculum that is all planned out for me, but I hate following a set plan!! We do better with “spur of the moment” activities found in our library books or on homeschool share…….

I am gonna give it a try for the remainder of this year and see what happens 🙂
