Okay so I got the text and thought I would use it with my 12 yr, 11 yr old and 9 yr old. My 13 yr old I am going staight into The Write course hoping it will work for him without the intro that the younger boys will get with Writing with Ease.
I bought all the DVD courses that Sonya suggests on here and in listening to it and also reading some of the sample pages on here from her new LA book. It mentions not to ask questions of the subject that you read about. Yet “Writing with Ease” uses copywork and also every second lessons asks very specific questions each time. Do you any of you modify this and how.
Also she states to find work with very specific types of grammer. Which can be challenging and to time comsuming. I thought they will just learn grammer through good thoughts. Why do we have to break it down and give a rule. Anyone in Faith just skip all the details other than just the simple what a noun, pronoun and verb stuff. No real detail stuff. I do not wan to use the workbooks that come with the program since I do not approve of some of the stories used in it.
Hope this makes sense. My brain is wirling and I really want to make all my schooling work with my large family CM style but it is hard as a lot of it does still involve mama there checking and asking narrations and such.
To answer your question “Anyone in Faith just skip all the details other than just the simple what a noun, pronoun and verb stuff. No real detail stuff”; Yes, unashamedly thats what we do. If you are referring to The Writing Course by Fred Lybrand, imo, that is all your dc will need…and of course reading lots and lots of good books. Blessings ~ Heather
