I am wondering about 2 programs that teach writing.  1-Jump In and 2-EpiKardia (the steps to writing a research paper)

I have heard you ladies talk about both of them can you tell me if they are the same or different?  Also, why you liked one or the other?  And lastly if you used them, are they a self-taught program?  Grammar is my worst suggest (have you ever really looked at my posts/replies) and I need something they can really learn along with me or even better just alone :0)  Just wanted to point that out so you know I am not a grammar major by any means.

    Thanks

Jump In is much, much lower level.  It does not teach research paper writing at all.  It is more suited to 7-9th grade.  I’ll be using the Epikardia research paper guide next year with my high school senior.

The Jump In lady, Sharon Watson, has just come out with a high school level program and I am actually planning on getting it when finances allow–I will almost certainly use it with my third son when he finishes Jump In.  He isn’t quite ready for the level of independence the older two have had in high school.

Both programs are directed to the student.  But both still require a parent to help evaluate or grade.  Your student needs some feedback in some way to tell how well he or she did and what to do or not do next time.  If you are not comfortable, you can probably find a friend willing to help some.  🙂

Ok, I didn’t know that Jump In didn’t teach research.  So both will be needed over time.  Got it thanks.  I did bookmark your post earlier Bookworm for that product.  So you would say that would be a good fit after Jump In and before Epi Kardia?
