My children will be attending a private Christian school this Fall.  I have homeschooled them via the Charlotte Mason method, and so I have not required my son to do any other writing but some copywork.  When he starts third grade this Fall at the school, I’m sure the other children will be more accustomed to writing.  (The school uses Abeka).  I don’t want my son to feel embarrassed so I’m trying to think of ways to help him write some this summer.  It can’t seem like schoolwork, it would have to be done in a fun way.  Any suggestions to help him write this summer so that he is more prepared for 3rd grade schooling?  Thanks!

Hmmm….off the top of my head:

    Write letters to penpals/relatives.

Write a newsletter about summer happenings to family members.

Every year I have my kids fill out a sheet asking them things like: what they want to be when they grow up, if I had 3 wishes…, fav. movie and book, what I’m scared of, etc.  Maybe ask him to do something like that, answering in complete sentences?

Hopefully others will chime in!  I’m sure he’ll do fine:)  Gina
