Thank you for your kind words and encouragment! Your right, I can do it!! I know that I need to do school in a slower pace. Right now DD in 9th grade is doing MFW, she is very independent and that helps ALOT!!! DS 7th grade , he was needing a lot of help in reading and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! he is doing really well and I am very proud of him. Reading from CM has really helped me understand about children and the reading process.
Next year we are changing things around and making in more CM and having school in a slower/ more relaxed pace. I am the type of person that wants all subjects done every single day and I don’t care how long it take for them to do it, it needs to get done. I was adding so much pressure on my children and on myself. I just love hearing and reading Sonya saying read the child, not the curriculum. This statement has been very profound for me, it has changed my outlook completely.
Anyhow, just pray for me as I learn to balance working partime and homeschooling.

Wow Sarai I also have Hashimoto’s. Small world, lol. Talk about ups and downs and not knowing what’s going on with your own body :/ Geesh!

This is a good post to read. My family may need some more income so I’ve been thinking about looking for a part time job. I’m curious what type of work you all have found that allows for part time/flexible hours? Just trying to get some ideas for where to look. Thanks!

I work as the Administrative Assistant at our church. It’s helpful that my hours are consistant — Mon to Fri, 9 am until noon. I am fortunate that I am able to take my children to the office when I need to. It is my husband’s crazy hours that are more likely to disrupt our school week. We don’t seem to get as much accomplished when he is home, but if the boys were in PS they would go several days a week without seeing him at all.

I work at my husband’s college. Since we live on campus it is very conveint for me.

I’m currently teaching online from home but I have worked afternoons/evenings for a community college library.

I work from home 8-5. I run the office for my husband’s HVAC company. So I answered phones all day long and then type up invoices etc. This is how I do it…. I get up before kids and get dress and then I take any individual assignments and place it on their clip boards for the day. I read to them throughout the day and when we are interrupted, then they automatically start working on their assignments. I also have chores that each is to do and a check off list for them. A the end of the day, I inspect chores and if any are checked and not done or done very badly, then kids run 5 laps around our drive way which is about a third a mile. LOL this gets interesting when it is cold and rainy!! It all seems to work out in the end. My house isn’t the cleanest and I am horrible about getting meals together, but my husband understands and pitches in too. So it all works for us. HTH

hahahaha Cdm2kk! I love the running laps idea!! Does it motivate them to do their chores well?

Lauren26, Let’s just say they have each had to run laps once! Great motivator, I would say! LOL
Hate to admit it, but it was husband’s idea…… isn’t that always the way…you get create and pary and worry and search for what will work and then bam, husband gets mad and tells the offender to go run laps and bam, problem solved… 8-P

I job share the children’s ministry director job at church. It’s about 40% work from home
