Wonderful Impromptu Nature Study – a Manatee

    This evening as my husband mowed the grass, he phoned me inside and said, “Hurry, bring the kids out to the dock. There’s a manatee feeding!”

    The kids in their pjs ran outside with me and we watched as the huge sea cow fed for 10 minutes before moving back toward the river. This is the 3rd time that hubby has seen a manatee in our creek and the 2nd time that I’ve seen it, but it’s the first for the kids. It was about 8 feet long and absolutely wonderful to watch! I hope it returns many times and that next time I get a picture.

    Wow!!!!

    We find fun things in our river, but nothing like THAT!

    That is awesome! I saw a manatee in the canal at my cousin’s house as a child, and I still remember it! It was just there at their dock too; maybe it was feeding. I don’t remember all of that, but I just remember being in AWE of this massive creature that swam so well.

    So glad your children got to see the manatee and feeding too!
