    For book club we are reading this book.  It is about three daughters of China.  While I struggled a bit in the beginning being unfamiliar with name pronunciation and there are parts that are sluggish, I am really enjoying this look into China.  It covers three generations of woman starting in the early 1900s.  Has anyone else read this?  We are far away from high school, but I am thinking this would be a good modern history read (think 12th grade).  I have not quite finished it, but wondered if anyone else had thoughts.

    I’m following this thread. It sounds interesting, and I have a 12th-grader this fall who would like to do a little extra reading for Early Modern & Modern Times because we did those periods of history “sooooo long ago” (a.k.a., back in 8th & 9th grade, lol!)

    @Laurie
    , who is the author of that book?

    The author is Jung Chang. I bought it for four bucks on Amazon.  It is dense and long 500 pages, but I have learned a lot and only half way through. Would be curious to hear from more experience with those of teenagers.
