Just curious about the SCM guides and why 3 years to cover ancients. Everywhere else seems to condense them all into 1.

I’m sure others can answer better because I haven’t actually used them — in large part because I didn’t want to spend 3 years on ancients and prefer the 4-yr rotation rather than 6-yr. But I remember it was pointed out that the ancients have quite a lot more of Bible in them, proportionately. There was a thread about combining the ancients into 1 yr as part of a 4-yr rotation… gotta run now but it was within the past month or so.

Hi, Nina. Sorry for the delay in responding; I was on the road (and in the air). The main reason is because we want to put an emphasis on the Bible history alongside the world history. We didn’t want to squeeze Genesis through Acts into one year, so we spread it out and put the Ancients with those Bible readings. It turned out that three years was a much nicer pace and allowed the students to linger in the Bible accounts in their historical settings.

and I for one am glad you didn’t push Genesis thru Acts in one year 🙂 I don’t get through the Bible that fast on my own, much less with my kids
