Wondering, if I am jumping into CM when my two oldest are starting 2nd grade, should I begin with module 2 for history/geography/Bible? We have used My Father’s World boxed curriculum up until now.

Also, when the younger ones begin their formal education, do they just jump in at whatever module the older children are doing?

You can jump into whichever module you wish, and yes, your younger children join into whatever module the older ones are doing, once they are old enough.

Hi…new to this board and homeschooling method. I do have a question similiar about which module to start.

My children will be in 6th and 3rd grade come this fall. We have been an eclectic school for the most part, but I want to really lock down on a main course of teaching so nothingwill be left out. Currently, we have just skimmed Science and History as we have been dealing with other learning disabilities. I feel horrible that I have not really added these two subjects to our schooling, but there just does not seem to be the time when we are struggling with math, reading, grammar, and handwriting.

Given this information, where would I start my 5th grader (soon to be 6th grader) in the history? He has heard bits and pieces of history from eduational shows and some reading, but nothing in depth. I also have a 2nd grader (girl who will be in 3rd grade this fall).

I do intend to play “catch up” this summer, but I am fearful that not having a solid teaching in these two subjects has really harmed them for high school and beyond.

This is only my 2nd year teaching homeschool (2 years for my son, 1 year for my daughter) so I am dealing with worry and concern a lot right now.

Thank you for your help, guidance, and encouragement.
