This year I will be using a missions-based study called A Heart for You: China. This will include Bible, lierature and copywork, and social studies as we look at the history, culture, language, religion, and geography of China. My children will be making a notebook of what we learn along the way. (they are 10 and 7)
My question is this: should I also do a Module of History from SCM? Or would that be overkill? I intend to choose a literature module to use during the year so that our interests are varied. I was just uncertain as to whether or not adding a History module would be too much to actually get done.
It sounds like enough work to be a complete year to me. I probably wouldn’t add more, myself, unless you have a history plan to complete certain time periods by graduation that would be put behind by doing so. Just my .02:) Gina
Thanks, ladies. I thought that adding anything else might be too much but it helps to know someone else thinks so too. I tend to err on the side of “let’s do it all!”. 🙂 I did worry a little about not getting in all the units of History before high school. However, our highschool curriculum covers history quite nicely and I think we’ll be okay.
I think after I add in Math, nature study, and literature books, we’ll have a pretty full schedule.
Jenn–it IS a rich study. I’m really excited about it. It was a blessing from a friend. She and her daughter had used it and enjoyed it and she sent me all the materials so that we could too!
Thanks again!
