Which history do you suggest starting with in 1st grade? This is for my oldest. Thanks!

You can start any of the SCM history modules in first grade! That is what I would do if I were starting over again with a first grader. 🙂

I agree. You should realize that whatever you choose now will probably be repeated at least twice before all is said and done.
I like to start at the beginning, with Creation. But many people here in the US like to start with US history, and then work backwards.

My oldest is in first grade as well and we started this year with Module 5. Simply enough, he really wanted to do American history so I figured if we started where he wanted, hopefully it would keep him loving history. (It also buys me a few more years to figure out what I want to do about teaching the Reformation–we’re Catholic.) And so far the SCM module has been a smashing hit. I am modifying a couple things to keep it very first-grader friendly that I can share with you (or anyone else) if interested. But this is my first go-around, so obviously I don’t know how great the end result will be, but so far it’s going very well.

If you stick with SCM modules, everything is repeated ONCE. It is a 6 year cycle, which I like.
