I’ve been thinking about where to go with science next year. My girls will be 4th grade and 2nd+ grade. My 4th grader is a struggling reader. Therefore, she also struggles with writing and spelling. My 2nd grader is far advanced. In fact, she will only be 2nd grade because I say that. Most of her work right now in 1st grade is on a 3rd grade or higher level.
That being said, I have been leaning towards doing NOEO Science Physics Level 1. But, then as I was thinking, I wondered about just reading living books instead of doing a curriculum. I want their education to be challenging (yet not too challenging) and have substance but at the same time be simple. The girls love science. We have done Outdoor Secrets and are about to finish 106 Days of Creation. We have read through Burgess Bird Book and several other animal living books. I feel like we have done a lot on animals and it would be good to broaden our view into other areas of science. What do you think or does it really matter yet? Just living books or NOEO science? Continue with animals or branch out? If I were to just read living books, do you have any suggestions for some on Chemistry and Physics sort of topics?
The package is pretty complete, I don’t know how the magic school bus would fit in!?!
Anyways, it is really up to you to decide what fits your family best. I do like to have a program that is all scheduled out because this is one subject I would end up skipping otherwise. It includes good living books, website link to internet which my kids really enjoy, a few experiments.
We are doing Physic I and I already ordered Biology II for next year…
